I am used to skimming these alerts because it usually is brands/foods that I would never feed the kids anyway, so was very surprised to see Nonuttin mentioned. We have a stash of their bars and granola in our house at all times, and they are very allergy aware. I guess these things happen. . . .

We were very surprised too but we have now been completely cleared of any sesame contamination. It turns out that the sesame allergen test that we were using was incorrectly reading 2 of our fruits and our sunflower seeds as having sesame in them. We decided to do the voluntary recall before we could finish our investigation. We didn't want to wait so we moved forward to ensure everyone's safety as quickly as possible.

But after working with the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) with more sensitive testing, our suppliers and the makers of the sesame allergen test, we discovered no sesame, just invalid original test results.

The information about the voluntary recall we did will live on the internet for a long time so you still will see those 5 products with a "may contain sesame" for some time. Until we can get continued, valid testing that is negative over time, we will leave the warning on so as to avoid confusion.

THANK YOU, I have more confidence in a company which acts quickly and errs on the side of caution to do a voluntary recall than a company which doesn't want the bad PR and waits it out. Your explanation is also appreciated!

Thank you from me, too. Sesame isn't one of our life threatening ones, but it's great to see your company is so proactive and responsive. Good to know it wasn't indeed a case of cross contamination. Will be ordering another batch of granola bars soon!
