Yikes! Too much room for error with that strategy ... doesn't Sabrina's Law specifically recommend that the student remain where he/she is? That the help must come to them? I know it doesn't apply in Alberta, but once again .... why try and re-invent the wheel? This protocol is far too complicated.

I grew up in this area, and remember, that some of the smaller schools are in very tiny villages and towns that do NOT have hospitals, and the nearest one is maybe 1 hr away. So driving the student to meet the ambulance could be a very prudent move.

However, I can certainly see a need for a lot of changes there. Especially knowing that a lot of the ambulance staff are volunteers.

Number 1 on my list would be - HAVE THE CHILD WEAR THEIR EPIPENS AT ALL TIMES no matter what their allergy - food, latex, or stinging/biting insect, etc.

Next would be UNIVERSAL training for all staff - and IF they see a reaction in a student then ACT FAST! Don't delay, don't ask questions.

Gee, no wonder on my dd's form for school, I put on there - "IF in doubt, use the epipen!" (this is for my kidlet anaphylactic to multiple mosquito bites).
