Please excuse my stupidity, but my husband is allergic to fish/shellfish and I have a few questions for those of you who have them. We went snorkeling in cancun last april, and I wondered if it was safe for him to be around all those fish. What if he got bit, or got an open wound while around the fish, or was stung by a sting ray?

Would you snorkel in a small confined area (like a lagoon ) with tons of fish?

Would you snorkel in the ocean around tons of fish?

Swim in a small lake with lots of fish, and minnows around your feet?

Eat sea salt?

It probably depends on his level of allergy...

In the summer, I do some sailing... but the more my allergy grows, the less comfortable I feel just sitting on the boat (but that's just me ;)). Sometimes the ropes fall in the water... I refuse to touch them once they are wet :? (I keep having this flashback from last year when I looked down at the rope and saw about 50 little fishes gathering around  )... I wouldn't dream about joining them :? (nightmares would be more like it...)

It's probably because of my sensitive skin and maybe has nothing to do with fish allergy, but the last time I swam into a lake I was red from head to toe!!!!!! And the water from the river makes a rash on contact with my skin...

But as you know, my allergy is extreme... your husband may not need as much...

Sea salt... I don't discriminate against it... I don't vonlutarly use it, but most times, the source of the salt is mysterious...
