Back from curriculum night.... thinking the new art teacher has NOT paid attention to the health-fact sheet on all the kids

Marvellous first art project will include... sunflower seeds. Yup. The real ones. In the art room.

I am choosing to look at this as an opportunity to educate an educator....

We need a new emoticom... palmheelfaceplant

I shake my head and wonder why, seven years after Sabrina's Law was implemented, seven years of annual anaphylaxis training, ware we still having problems like this?

I don't know how people in provinces without legislation are managing. :dungetit :scratchy :freak

Good for you to take the education attitude!

Sometimes I think it just comes down to they have so many students and may remember that a child has allergies but not the specific ones. Which is why I LOVE that our new Principal has made a new rule that there will be NO food in the classrooms :banana And this is for a high school!

Wow, I'd be doing the no food in the class happy banana dance too!

I find it so important for allergy parents to have a presence at the school, and be in regular contact with teacher for situations such as this.

We have our first 'food event' coming up at school on monday, since I am selecting the brands for the class I know they will be ok for my boys but I would rather not have them at all...:(

I created a Pinterest board called Alternatives to Food Based Activies. It's mainly for Elementary schools but I offered it to my principal as a resource. Now, my school board is following it. :swing

LOVE IT!
That's the thing - alternatives are possible but some people need to have a place to go for them
Great idea Susan :)
