I found some rice bread that is gluten free, but one of the ingredients listed was yeast. I was wondering if anyone knew where yeast comes from, and if it's safe for ppl with wheat and barley allergies? :?:

Thanks!

I'm guessing you're wondering about the medium the yeast was grown on? Not sure. But if it is from a reputable gluten-free company, I'd say it is probably safe. Anyone else give this issue some thought?

Canadian Celiac Assn has a great guide to safe/questionable/unsafe foods for those with c.d.

If memory serves, yeast is considered safe. Check out:

Yeast and wheat are not related.
