One of the first companies to introduce the crispy fries was A & W. You can access the ingredient information for all their menu items through the Menu & Nutrition tab on their webpage:

http://www.aw.ca/

Their fry ingredients:

Fries: potatoes, canola oil, modified potato starch, rice flour, dextrin, wheat starch, cornstarch, salt, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), whey, xanthan gum, dextrose. CONTAINS: MILK, WHEAT

A & W used to be one of back-up fast food outlets when our son (anaphylactic to dairy & eggs) was younger. With the change to their fries it is still a very rare ocassion that our family ever graces their doorstep.

I'm really impressed with their allergen information -- listing ingredients, then whether or not allergens are in the food item and even if they are in the manufacturing facility. Other chains should follow their lead with such detailed information for consumers!

5Guys is pure potato in peanut oil. It's the only place we know of that is void of wheat, soy or milk.
