I haven't written in a while and I thought I better update my opinion of the soy milk maker before I head back to work on Monday (my son turns one on Sunday). I have only tried using the machine to make soy milk altough it can be used for other types. I usually soak the dried, rawe beans for a day in the fridge and run the machine twice (30 min).
I have found this to cost about ten cents for a batch. It makes about one litre. I have purchased stevia (a herbal plant) to sweeten it, about 13 drops, plus 1/4 tsp. salt, a tablespoon of lime juice and 3tbsp of vanilla.
We find it just a bit grainier (?) than the dairy case soy, it reminds more of the boxed flavour. We mix it half and half with the commercial to cut the cost and bake and cook with it all the time. I usually keep beans soaking in the firdge all the time and make it as it runs low. I do hope other people might consider a product like this as it is very economical and I remember seeing a sale online on the HBC webiste (zellers) after I purchased mine from the states. Best of luck if anyone decided to try it out!
