This info has perhaps already been posted, but I just wanted to mention that Tofutti makes some great dairy substitute products.

1. Tofutti "Better than Cream Cheese" is a real treat, and tastes great. There are several different flavours available, including Garlic & Herb and Garden Veggie (my favourite). This product is just plain good - whether you have to avoid dairy or not. I really like it on plain rice crackers.

See http://www.tofutti.com/btcc.0.asp for the whole range.

2. Tofutti "Sour Supreme" (sour cream) is also really quite good (although not quite as good as the real thing, I have to admit). We've used it for dips and even for a great beef stroganoff (should find the recipe and post it).

See http://www.tofutti.com/soursupreme.0.asp for a picture of the container. I haven't even see the guacamole flavour, I must say!

3. Tofutti Cuties (ice cream sandwiches) are also really good. A friend of mine (avoiding dairy, egg, peanut, nut, sesame seed, and more) called about the fact that they have a peanut butter flavour and was satisfied with what they told her about their cleaning process and based on their info made the decision to buy the vanilla Cuties, but obviously you should call if you have concerns.

See http://www.tofutti.com/cuties.0.asp for the whole range.

4. We have also tried the Totally Fudge Pops (fudgsicle) and my 5-yr-old really likes them. You can see a pic at http://www.tofutti.com/sticks.0.asp.

-----------------------------------

I've found these products in various places, including grocery stores and health food stores. You may have to shop around to find them, but they are worth checking out if you find you are missing the dairy equivalents of these products.

K.

You're right - I forgot about them. My youngest doesn't like them, but I don't think they're too bad. When I was nursing him and avoiding all his allergens I was pretty happy to have them.
