"Compliments" store brand foods can be found at Sobey's, Price Chopper, IGA, Foodland, and Commisso's Food Markets.
They are the only store brand that I'm aware of that has consistent labelling for allergens. You can check out their "Info Symbols" information here: http://www.complimentscanada.ca/en/cate ... &channel=1
I've got an email out to them to have them confirm which allergens they consistently label for - I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for your question. Compliments and Compliments Value packages have an information system with icons on the front panel at the bottom-right, and information details beside the same icons on the reverse of the package. The most common is the Alert icon, an orange circle containing a white exclamation mark.

For food items, this icon typically represents an allergy alert. With very few exceptions, the Allergy Alert is displayed for identification of the common high-risk allergens, if the product contains, or may contain traces of any of these: milk, egg, fish, shellfish, peanut, nut, sesame, soya, sulphites and wheat, and the details are on the back of the package, adjoining the same icon. The allergy alert exceptions include salad dressings and a small number of others, mostly deli items, with very limited room on the label.

For all exceptions, if there is a risk of any of the above allergens that is not plainly listed in the ingredients (whey powder is an example of milk allergen not plainly listed), then the ingredients will be immediately followed by a "Contains..." or "May contain traces of..." statement. We are working to find ways to eliminate all exceptions.

You can also find the allergen information for specific products on our website in case you want to look for suitable items before you leave for the store - click "FOOD" near the top of the screen, select from the categories that appear on the black bar below it, and browse for the items of interest to you. Pointing your mouse cursor on the product listing's icons will display the icon text.

We are always happy to verify the allergen status of any Compliments product upon specific request, and to give an indication of the degree of risk, for example whether there are products with peanuts made in the same plant, but not on the same equipment, and whether there are approved cleaning and cross-contamination prevention measures in place.

The CFIA web page for "Labelling of Foods Causing Allergies and Sensitivities" is at this web address in case you would like to see it: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/fss ... o19e.shtml

They also have new Food Allergen Fact Sheets on the same website; here's the direct link so you don't have to search for it: http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/fss ... erge.shtml

For any Compliments or product you may wish to confirm In the meantime, we will be pleased to verify allergen status with the product supplier upon request.

Again, thank you for taking the time to get in touch. I hope this information will serve you well, and help make your grocery shopping decisions just a little easier in future. Please contact us again for any questions or comments on any of our private label products

Sincerely,
