Has anybody ever heard or read anything about the possibility of outgrowing OAS or is a lifetime thing?

Also can you get tested for it or is it just diagnosed based on your symptoms descriptions to your allergist?

I'm not sure if you can grow out of it. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere (i.e. somewhere in a medical journal) that allergy shots can improve OAS along with allergies to cross-reacting pollens.

I do find that my OAS symptoms fluctuate a bit. There are some things that I will *never* try again---melons, bananas, cherries, raw carrots . . .okay, I guess there are a lot of things! But there are some fruits that I would try again . . . like pears and McIntosh apples.

Allergists can test for OAS . . . but the tests made in the lab aren't that reliable. I've heard that allergists prefer to use juice extracted from the fresh fruit/vegetable.

Thanks Helen. I guess I will have to ask at my daughter's next appointment with her allergist.
