I haven't checked recently, so I'm not sure if there is a 'may contain sesame' notice on other V-H sauce labels. If there is, then obviously all is well. But just in case some of you use this product. . .

I received this reply from the manufacturer of V-H sauces today:

"Thank you for contacting ConAgra Foods Canada Inc. We are pleased to
inform you all VH Dips and Sauces are produced in a peanut free and tree
nut free environment. However, VH Asian 5 Spice contains sesame and
shares production lines with all VH products.

We hope this information has been helpful for you and appreciate your
dedication to our products.

Sincerely,
Consumer Communications"

Update:

I received this follow-up regarding the VH sauces today:

"At this time our labels do not state "May contain traces of sesame". However, your comments are important to us and will be passed along to our Regulatory Department and our Operations Manager for their consideration.

Sincerely,
Consumer Communications"

Thank you for posting this Andrea! I've used VH sauces a couple of times, and mistakenly thought they were okay. We will not use them any longer.

I guess I'll go back to M&M sauce. I actually like the taste of the VH better, but not enough to risk it.

Thanks Andrea.

Thanks for posting this- I've been stiring clear because of soy, but it's always good to know.

We've started using Heinz chili sauce (called and no sesame issues) and recently we bought a Kraft sweet & sour sauce to try on a stir fry. Sweet - but it was nice to have a change.

I've also started using some of Renee's sauces & marinades. They do have a product with sesame, but I emailed them asking about their process and here is the email I received. Obviously it depends on your comfort level, but I was happy with the response.

"Thank you for your e-mail of Jan 08.

Kindly be informed that we have an allergy control program installed in our production facility to prevent allergens cross contamination. The program has included:

1) Requesting detail allergen information from our ingredient suppliers

2) Proper ingredients receiving procedures to avoid cross contamination

3) Proper ingredients storage to avoid cross contamination

4) Proper operation procedures to avoid cross contamination

5) Sanitation has included high speed line flushing, and after cleaning inspection

6) Product label control to ensure accurate information is put on the labels, and right labels be put on the products during labeling operation

7) Regular staff training on allergens and allergen control "
