While shopping we found some cookies with a symbol on the front. It was peanut free -- and the symbol included CAC Program. (I have posted about the cookies in appropriate threads to let people know about them. :) )

Has anyone heard of the CAC Program? (Certified Allergen Control)

Here's a link: www.certification-allergies.com/index.php?lang-en

I signed up.

Not many companies listed there yet. And, I couldn't find any information about the ice-cream, so I don't know what allergens it is safe for.

We've written about them several times in AL mag - most recently in the Spring issue, and showed the new CAC labelling symbols.

Great program, and kudos to Claire Dufresne and her colleagues at Quebec's AQAA association for getting such an ambitious program going. It's a big commitment for companies to pass and get certified, which is why there aren't a lot of manufacturers onboard just yet.

Let's hope they can continue to sign up more cos. Buying products from those who do participate is a good way to encourage others.

Just went through my magazine twice to find it.

On the page I signed up, it asks you to list the allergens you are personally concerned with -- it lists 12. I'm hoping if enough people click on sesame seeds, it will be added to the allergens CAC checks for.

Yeah, it's slowly showing up on products.

It was mentioned on the forum over a year ago, I think:
