Talking Allergies

Hats off to the Seattle-based company.

While other food companies can't conceive of eliminating even peanut, these folks go out and build a business around products with none of the major 8 allergens. (In the U.S., they don't count sesame and sulphites; though I notice Enjoy Life doesn't seem to use either of those much).

They produce cookies, granola bars, trail mix, chocolate chips, stuff that so many other manufacturers wouldn't even consider making allergen-free. I haven't sampled all their products, but the cookies and trail mix I've had were definitely tasty.

Disclaimer: they do advertise with the magazine, but I wouldn't feel obliged to mention. Their commitment simply impresses me.

I agree - these guys are gold star hall of famers - but those with severe dairy allergies need to be careful - potentially.
The chocolate chips and products containing them don't have a disclaimer - the label still says dairy free however their batch testing is to 2.5 parts per million (the chips are produced at a different plant). I believe they test each batch. So, there is a risk of some dairy contamination albeit limited.

Finally picked up some of the snack bars at Loblaw's (in the Gluten Free section).

My son loves the caramel apple ones! And that's no small feat... he's a very picky eater!

Ironicially enough, my oldest, who has more choices, loves the Coco Loco bars. My youngest, who could eat them but won't - and who has very few choices in granola/cereal bars - won't touch them.

Ah well... at least they are there!

I am going to try to make my own granola bars using the Enjoy Life cereals (Cinnamon and Very Berry Crunch) as well as the No Nuttin Trail Mix. I think each of these will provide a good (and reliable) starting base from which I can make more "traditional" granola bars.

If anyone has good recipes out there, I'd love to hear of them!

I love their products but have such a hard time finding them here in Montreal.

I have one of my local health food stores order up cases of products for me but it usually takes some time for them to arrive.

Anyone know of anyone who carries them on a regular basis?

Could you contact the company? They should be able to provide you with a list of their distributors and/or stores. I would try that.
