Is it extra hard to plan a wedding when one (or both?) folks have serious allergies (food, fauna, etc ...)? What are some coping tips?

My wedding reception was a big ol' potluck (because I am a giant Commie), so everyone could eat at least whatever they brought, if nothing else.

We won't have a wedding reception. We're getting married at city hall anyway.

Hi when my son was married he had a reception and all
They served chicken, peas,corn,potatoes.
I made myself and my Husband (he is really good to me) a chicken meal that I knew was safe. We took it to the reception and heated it up.
My Auntie said mine was better, she is very kind also.
I could not even have a piece of cake.
This was easier then trying eat food from someone who you do not know.
We also live 9 hours away, and it is a comuniation problem to explain on the phone.
I had a really great time.

I always eat at home before we go to a wedding just incase I can't eat there. If it is possible I speak to the cooks or caterers to inquire about ingedients, and ask what is safe for me to eat. I have never had a problem with that (and have always encountered very kind people), unlike some restaurants! (I have an anaphalactic reaction to citrus.)

Here I am searching around for help in finding a sympathetic bakery, and I stumble across this forum. My husband-to-be has a nut allergy and I am wondering if there is a bakery in the GTA you can recommend for our wedding cake. The wedding will be in Mississauga in October, so I'm a little late in organizing this... Anyone have suggestions?

Amanda

This place is in the GTA.

http://www.thecupcakeshoppe.ca/

They do wedding cakes - out of cupcakes.

I'll be back with more. I do know there are at least two places here that make cakes, I'm just not sure how long it will take for me to find them.

Irresistable Cakes They are located in Woodbridge (north end of Toronto) and their web site is: http://www.i-cakes.ca .

I just e-mailed the guy I know that recently got married. Here's a quote from his reply:

Quote:
Irresistable Cakes is where we ordered our cake from. They are GREAT! Delicious cakes with a lot of variety.
