This one stumps me.
I have been using Sally Hansen 18 Hour Lip Treatment (it's a tube of lip gloss) for a couple of years. I LOVE this product and have had a hard time finding it in stores recently, so this morning I was going to order a bunch of it from Walgreens.com. It comes in various colors.

Well anyway, I wound up reading the ingredient list, and it contains Glycine Soja (Soybean) Germ Extract!

My daughter, who is allergic to peanuts and very sensitive to soy has been sharing this lip gloss with me for at least a year (I was going to buy her some tubes of her own). As far as I know, this product has never made her had any sort of reaction.

I looked up Glycine Soja (Soybean) Germ Extract on the web and found out that it is essentially made of soy protein -- the very thing I always avoid in their food. Soy protein makes my kids' throats itch, and since they are allergic to peanuts I know it's a cross reaction because they are both legumes.

So now I'm stumped. Should I tell her to stop using the lip gloss? Should I assume that it's OK since she's never reacted to it in the YEAR she has occassionally borrowed it from me?

Momofhalfadozen -As I understand it, you may be allergic to one or more of the protiens found in milk (just as one can be allergic to either egg whites, yolk or both). Perhaps your daughter is not allergic tothe protien in milkfat?

SFMom-I would suggest the you not share lip closses because of risk of cross contamination.
