Husband: no allergies
Me: allergies to some tree that flowers in May
Cat: allergic to beef, pork and lamb

I can understand the enthusiasm, sort of. MS Living recipes and magazines are very glossy and lovely, though the recipes always tend to be a little difficult for my abilities in the kitchen.

However, if this came to pass it would definitely not be "a good thing" for certain other allergy magazines.

I've often thought that it would be a good idea for allergic living magazine to go a little more indepth in the kitchen. Recipes are great...but I mean the "how to" stuff. Off the top of my head...how to decorate a birthday cake, how to make your own sausage, how to prepare dried coconut from a fresh one and how to dry herbs and make your own spices.

Gwen, I think that Allergic Living has an edge over a MS cooking magazine because AL focuses on the entire lifestyle where as MS is most interested in recipes and entertaining.

I think that AL is interesting to a broad range of people but I can't imagine my husband ever reading MS.

I don't think you have much to worry about.

I sort of take comfort in the knowledge that Today's Parent, a Canadian magazine, is doing well and winning awards, despite the presence of other larger US magazines like Parents...

But I will admit, when I heard about this, I felt a little frisson of apprehension for our beloved AL.

I saw this on a popular peanut allergy website. A couple of posters said - if Martha doesn't do it, someone should! So, I posted a link to AL and told them no need to ask for it - it's already here.

It looks like the allergy publication has been selected along with the yearly pet publication. They are both co-winners. Not 'a good thing'.

Eczema and sensitive to gluten

You know, someone else emailed me that info as well, but on another allergy forum, the members (who had watched the show) were saying that it looked like MSLO was only going to include allergy-friendly recipes in her current publication, and not start up a new allergy-specfic publication. People even mentioned that they realized that the final vote tally did not necessarily mean that the grop with the biggest number of votes would get what they wanted. Martha had never said that the most votes would win, apparently - only that it would contribute to her decision. On the other allergy forum, they were quite clear that the pet publication was the winner...

Anyway, the people on this other allergy forum were quite disappointed and disillusioned... so I am a bit confused as to what the final outcome really was. (And I didn't have time to watch the show on the internet.)

I saw the clip on her blog about the winners and it does seem like she'll only be adding recipes to her current publications & website.

I actually never even considered the possibility of a MS allergy friendly recipe mag to be competition with AL. I know AL publishes lots of yummy recipesl, but to me AL is so much more! All about living life with allergies. Plus Canadian which rocks!
