from today's toronto star--in the shopping section (M6)

recipe for household cleaner:
place 1/2 cup baking soda in a bowl
add enough liquid soap in to make a frosting-like consistency, stirring constantly -- add a few drops of lavendar, tea tree, or rosemary oil [editorial comment from me here: I know that rosemary oil and tea tree oil is supposed to be anti-bacterial. am not sure about lavendar]

idea to sterilize sponges (wet sponges habour tons of bacteria) --place wet sponges in the microwave for a minute or two

see http://www.thegreenguide.com for other ideas for keeping one's home environmentally friendly (and therefore chemical free)

Here are several recipes for cleaning supplies. I haven't tried them so if you try them, let us know if you like them or not.
