Hi!
Do you buy fresh finned fish at the supermarket for your children? I usually buy them at the supermarket & now they've started posting a sign saying that they cannot guarantee that they have not come in contact with nuts. Is this just a disclaimer? Where do others get fresh fish from? I've been going & asking every time before I purchase them since the sign went up. Sometimes, they'll wrap me a fresh filet just to be safe.
Thanks,
Brenda

Good grief. Seems pretty ridiculous that they can't keep fish prep. areas free of nuts. In situations like that, I'll usually try to speak to the manager (or manager of the dept.) and talk about what practices they use and that your family has shopped for fish here regularly and would really appreciate if practices could be changed slightly to accommodate.

Unless they're doing a lot of fish dressed in almonds or such, seems a really easy accommodation.

FYI, re where I shop for fish.

I'm shellfish allergic, but not fish allergic (usually you're only allergic to one or the other). I shop at a good fish market, where the owner keeps the two in separate refrigerator counters.

I've never seen them use nuts on the premises.

Thanks so much for your reply! I will speak to the manager at the supermarket next time I'm there. I also called a fish market & they can guarantee no cross-contamination so I'm picking up a supply on Monday!
Thanks,
Brenda
