This is a response from Dairy Queen in regards to Peanuts and Tree Nuts:

Thank you for contacting International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ). I
appreciate your taking the time to contact us regarding your concerns
about peanuts and other nuts in Dairy Queen® restaurants.

Peanuts and other nuts are used in products sold in Dairy Queen
restaurants. IDQ strongly encourages its independent franchise owners to
take measures to ensure that customers with peanut allergies will not come
into contact with peanuts or other nuts. Every restaurant has been
provided warning signs to post at their restaurant, which state that
"peanuts and other nuts are used in this store and it is possible that
they may come into contact with your product." The warning signs are there
to provide you with the information you and other customers need in order
to determine whether ordering products at a Dairy Queen restaurant is the
best decision for you. IDQ also provides operational guidelines and
suggestions to every independent owner regarding product preparation and
steps to avoid cross-contamination.

We invite you to also check our nutrition calculator at
http://www.dairyqueen.com/us-en/eats-an ... alculator/ for
the most accurate and up to date nutrition and allergen information on all
of our required menu items. Further allergen information may be found at:

http://www.dairyqueen.com/us-en/eats-an ... ion-facts/

Although we use our best efforts, it is impossible to guarantee that any
Dairy Queen product will be free of peanuts or other nuts. We have
forwarded your concerns to the independent franchise operator of this
restaurant and have asked them to revisit the product preparation
procedures used in their restaurant to reduce possible cross
contamination.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your concerns with us.

I wouldn't trust DQ and I think that's what they're telling you.

The NutriWhip ice cream recipe tastes a lot like DQ and starts out soft (in my maker anyway) but firms up to a cake like texture.
