A friend of mine would like to have a BBQ for her son's b'day BUT he has a lot of allergies....if anyone has any food suggestion of food they could serve it would mean a lot:

HEre is a list of the main allergens

eggs
milk
wheat
nuts/pnuts
watermelon, all gourds
assuming strawberry & any seeded berry (like blackberry etc)
chocolate
soy

ok, so that is enough to get the idea....

Corn on the cob (with safe margarine or brushed with salt/olive oil, wrapped in foil and roasted)
Broccoli salad (broccoli, bacon and vegenaise-I'll look for a recipe)
coleslaw (pickle juice and vegenaise 50:50)

-Corn salad: corn, red onions, olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper....room temp salad, really refreshing in the summer. Top with fresh basil.

-Potato salad: boil your potatoes, cut them into bite sized pieces, add onions, vegenaise, splash of vinegar, salt and pepper

-Panzanella salad: Yumm-O! It's an Italian specialty...traditionally you use hard bread but these days you just toast a baguette or any safe bread. Toast it in a pan with a touch of olive oil, salt and pepper. Cut into bite sized pieces. Cut red peppers, cucumbers (looks nice with the peel on), red onions, tomatoes and any other veggies you want. Add capers if you want/can. Put whatever dressing is safe for you but it's best if it's a light vinegrette type, nothing too heavy or creamy-ish.

-Do they eat meat? I have tons of BBQ recipes for chicken, ribs, etc. Let me know if you want them.

-Tabouleh: couscous, cucumbers, tomatoes (both cut really small), lemon juice (fresh), fresh parsley or basil ( I much prefer basil...parsley is more traditional)

-BBQ'ed potatoes: make an aluminium foil pouch or buy the already made ones; par-boil potatoes, cut half-inch slices, put into pouch with sliced spanish onions, salt and pepper, dash of olive oil. Fold up and put on bbq until nice and tender....this is a family favourite of ours!!

Ok I have TONS of recipes that would all be safe for this little guy....we have a lot of parties :D So just let me know if you want more.

Ok I just saw that he is allergic to wheat and that the panzanella salad needs bread but you can use any bread, even wheat free. Try corn bread maybe...

Couscous and bulgar are both wheat.

There are some excellent alternatives to wheat out there quinoa, rice, rice pastas and beans for example.
