I was scrolling down the main forum page and saw this at the bottom.

Quote:
online
In total there are 12 users online :: 5 registered, 2 hidden and 5 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 204 on Wed Jan 28, 2009 12:11 am

Registered users: Ask Jeeves [Bot], Exabot [Bot], Google [Bot], MSN [Bot], Yahoo [Bot]
Legend :: Administrators, Global moderators

Those are some pretty weird names for registered users. (Notice, though I'm signed in -- I'm not listed.)

Pointing it out because the kind of Bot I've heard about most often are the spam-bots.

(Gwen, If Mr. T. doesn't regularly read the forums, please let him know about this if you think it's weird.)

AM,

Travis answered one question, and I've got the other.

His: Never fear, those are not spambots, those are legit search engine bots (e.g. Google, Yahoo) that crawl the web updating the search engine databases. This is how information gets compiled, ranked in a search.

Mine: For your online status - meant to mention that I'd figured out. It's not a main setting. It's in your own profile.

So go up to the righthand corner, click on User Control Panel, Board Preferences, then choose to Hide (NO) your online status.
You have to log out and log in for this status to change / update.

Gwen

AnnaMarie, were you able to sort out the online status in your user control panel?

Sorry Gwen, yes. And thank you both for your help. :)

I had tried before and couldn't do it -- but with the recent changes, maybe I didn't do it right.
