We went to a local Santa Claus Parade last night where a ton of candy was handed out. There was peanutbutter candies and mini Oh Henry bars and at one point free hot chocolate for the adults.
All that our daughter was allowed to accept was a MADD ribbon. How she cherished that ribbon as if it was a great prize.
I got a very sassy child afterward who when asked about her behaviour replied that she didn't think it was fair that she has food allergies. I should have known. The only time she gets really sassy is when her food allergies are upsetting her.
If you intend to take a little one to a parade, remember to bring some safe treats to hand out, I will next time.

I bought some Allan candy canes to bring today. Last year I brought some treats and each time she was offered we said no thank you and I gave her a safe treat. I thought it was good to practise refusing unsafe treats. Fortunately there were only candy canes handed out. I can't believe that nut candies would be handed out.

I don't go to our local parades (Santa Claus and summer exhibition one). A few years ago, a friend of mine went and they were handing out reese pb cups, and actually tossing peanuts in the shell into the croud  ! That's just insane!
