I have always been curious about almond content in Amaretto. At 18 I had a drink that contained Amaretto and did not react. It wasn't until my mother jokingly asked me what I had been drinking at the party that we both realized what had happened.

Since then I have been a little nervous about trying the drink again even though I was fine the first time. I have asked others and been told that more high end versions are likely to have almond extract while cheaper versions will have flavouring.

Does anyone have any information about it or any experience?

Oh Wow! Thanks I didn't see that one! Thats amazingly helpful. Usually I stick to Vodka Tonic or Beer, but in case I decide to branch out!

I also drank Bombay Sapphire Gin for a long time without problem before I realized it had been distilled with Almonds, thankfully nothing ever happened, but I stay clear of it now.

Thanks Again!

What matters is that you are ok. When another person posted about the gin I looked at the bottle I just put into the cupboard from a neighbor who was moving. Sure enough, it actually had an ingredient label (wish they all did!!) and it said almonds. :? Of course I wouldn't feed a 2 year old gin but an empty glass on the counter or a spill could have been catastrophic. I swear sometimes there is some evil plot out there to put those darn nuts into EVERYTHING!

According to the Disaronno website, their amaretto contains no almonds, and is nut free. Therefore, it is safe for people with nut or related allergies.

Does DISARONNO contain nuts?
No. Contrary to popular belief, DISARONNO doesn't contain any nuts and is not made from almonds.
