Hi Monty, No, you're not alone! My son is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts as well. I thought (but maybe I'm mistaken) that it's pretty common to be allergic to the combination of peanuts and tree nuts? (even though peanuts are a legume). Our son is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, green peas, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, mustard seed, egg, fish and pineapple. We've also been told to avoid other beans. Because he is only 3 years old, and his allergist prefers to limit full testing for everything, the tree nut testing that has been done thus far was a mixture of several tree nuts He had a high positive test (even though we have never fed him tree nuts - guess he's been exposed some other way), but specific tree nut testing will be done when he's older.

I'm allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. I haven't actually eaten any tree nuts, but according to allergy tests I'm very allergic.

My oldest daughter is allergic to peanuts. She has never had any tree nuts. The allergist said that anyone allergic to peanuts should avoid all tree nuts as well because they are usually processed together, and can very easily be contaminated with peanuts. He said that peanut allergy quite often goes along with tree nut allergy. My daughter did not have a skin test because we both felt that the skin test itself was unneccessary exposure since regardless of the result we would strictly be avoiding all nuts as well.

Of course you're not, Monthy. You had to guess I, of all people here, would be too.
