Barbara Coloroso spoke in our town about a month ago. She spoke about children not needing the constant parade of cupcakes in the schools, bullying and raising kids who could thrive on their own. None was from the perspective of a food allergy family but I thought she might have some useful insights for families if we could tap into her knowledge. At best, we could get some new ideas to help change the "cupcake culture" without it just being the "allergy families" and maybe some insights on how being allowed to be excluded could possibly set kids up to be bullied. Would you consider interviewing her for Allergic Living ?

We might well try for her.
I like her, too.

Gwen,

no thanks necessary for the suggestion - I am so glad to have a place to bring it, along with all my other allergy "stuff"

Absolutely agree that an interview with her would be fabulous.

And really love that she would like to stop the cupcake culture! Why does my child in middle school need to have pizza and chips in the afternoon as a treat AFTER they have already eaten lunch? I have lost count on the number of times my children have come home and told us about extra food.

When in a foul mood, I think it would be good to host a party at a school where only the children with allergies or food restrictions get to eat. Everyone else has to watch...
