I used to buy this brand occasionally and have thought that yogurts are generally a 'safe' food. However, when I was at the store over the weekend, saw that Liberte makes a fruit and walnut flavour. Not sure if this means their other flavours are unsafe. I've just sent them an email and will post when I get a reply.

I got this reply today:

We thank you for your e-mail and your comments.

To answer your question, Liberté owns only three facilities and 2 our of 3 works with allergenes. Even if our rigorous procedures on allergenes are followed, it is impossible for us to assure at 100% because everything is done in the same facility. We do have strict procedures on allergenes. The products that contain allergenes are produced at the end of the day and the equipment is well washed in order to eliminate the possibilities of contamination for products that will be done the next day.

But, we have to say that we do not confirm for 100% because all is done in the same factory.

We hope to have answered correctly and we remain,

Yours truly,
Henrielle Valiquette for the Liberté Team

So umm, I would assume that the foods in tthe 3rd facility are safe...if only they told us how to identify those foods...

I actually have emailed back to ask that very question. I would assume that you would be able to tell from their bar codes, if they let us know what to look for. Will update if I get a reply.

Do they have 'may contain' warnings?? If not, they should!

No 'may contain' warning - I checked the other flavours for that. I'll mention it to the customer service person when she gets back to me about the bar codes. Thanks for the reminder, Becky.

yeah, and I only buy the plain kind of yogurt anyhow (which to my mind is more likely to be run before any of the flavours.)
