I am so excited. Every day as we lie in bed before his nap I have DS repeat after me, no peanuts, no tree nuts, no gelatin, no sesame, no peas, no lentils, I have allergies.
Today before my head even hit the pillow he looks at me all serious and says clear as day "no peanuts no tree nuts" without any prompting from me. :D And yesterday I had him mix some pancake batter with me and he looked at me and says 'no peanuts'.
Baby steps, baby steps but in the right direction!

I love this too. Often when we are eating a packaged food my daughter will say "Check to see if it is nut free, Mommy", and then we have a little chat about how we make sure that everything we eat is nut free so that it is safe for her to eat. It's nice to know that it's sinking in!

:thumbsup Good job little ones (and parents)!!!

It's great to see when they start to be conscious of their allergies.

I offered my DD a candy the other day, and she told me "No mommy, that one has allergies!" because she didn't recognize it!! And I wasn't "testing" her, it was a safe candy (that she ate happily once I told her I checked the ingredients and it was safe)!!

How awesome! I have a 3 year old too!

Yesterday he saw a soy sour cream dip on the table and asked me "Can I have that?? Will it make my throat itchy?" before he ate it!

And I love it when he says "Do you have my epipens?" and "Read the 'gredients'"!!

I love hearing your stories, it seems like 3 is the magic age for starting to understand. It makes me feel great as I know that soon he will be telling me if he feels sick etc.. That will be a huge relief.

The little man had a mini panic attack last night. I had just finished reading him his night time stories and we were going over his no peanuts, no tree nuts, list of allergens. All of a sudden he sits right up and grabs my arm and in a panic says "but me eat fries ok mommy?????". I told him yes he could still eat fries and he actually wipes his brow and says outloud whhheeewwww. :rofl
I guess it occurred to him that this list of 'no's' was rather long and I might add some favorite foods to it.
