This is from our local paper, October 7. :frightened It would be bad enough having 20 or so kids in a class if your child had allergies or special needs. They aren't talking about allergies in the article just numbers, but I have to assume there are some special needs that some of these 34 children require extra care with. I am freaking out about jr. k next year as it is an to think of a classroom with 2 adults and this many children would really make me consider keeping DS at home.

They are talking about the high enrolment for full day kindergarten and jr. kindergarten.

Quote:
"...staff expressed concern after the uptake in the program swelled....thirty-four students is a lot to begin with, let alone being three to five year olds," he said. Each class is staffed with one teacher and one early childhood educator. ...Thirty four kids in a classroom with two adults is too crammed. .."

There must be guidelines regarding the ratio of adults to children... :scratchy

They have had permission to add another class but what boggles me is that they appeared to have allowed the 34 kids with 2 teachers until that decision was made. :scratchy
