While out shopping I stopped for a coffee at our malls specialty coffee shop. In the display case were two desserts each had a sign in front saying NUT FREE. In this same display case I counted 7 other desserts (muffins, squares, cookies) all containing peanut or nut items!! :frightened Not only were these items in the same display case but were just on sheets of a wax paper type sheet placed right beside each other close enough to sharing crumbs on the sheets of paper.
Now I know that anyone dealing with allergies would roll their eyes and not buy those items BUT what freaked me out was the 'what if' factor. What if it was a caregiver, grandparent etc. who saw the nut free sign and bought that treat for someone with an allergy. They would be proud that they had discovered a nut free treat for their loved one and might not understand enough to realize that these treats are anything but nut free.

Their H.O. emailed me back saying it would be dealt with. I just was at the mall and the signs are still there. I have said my peace and don't want to get into it so I just used my cell phone to take a couple pics of it to re:sent their H.O.. Stores may be franchised but it is the logo or company name which will be in the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!
