I'm sure this topic has been posted before, but how can I be permitted to bring my epipens on an airplane? I have to fly home for winter break in mid-December, and it's my first time flying alone (and my first time flying with an epipen). Does it depend on the airport/airline? Do I have to do something ahead of time?

I travel with 2 in my purse all the time.

Though I rarely get questioned about them, since 911 and more security questions, I travel with a brief note in my purse from the doctor. It details that I have serious food allergies (she lists them), and that I must have the pens on my person at all times.

I wrote up the note - so dr. just had to rewrite it onto her pad and sign.

We've flown many times with them in our carry-on luggage, and were only questioned once - and that was because they were training a new security screening officer, and they asked us if they could take it out to show him what it looked like!

We have dr's letters too, but have never been asked to show them. We have travelled with the kids three times so far.

DH has type 1 diabetes and travels with a needle and an insulin pump as well as all of the paraphernalia associated with the pump. All he needs is a Doctor's note, although he's never been asked for it.

We just travelled with Air Canada and got new epipens so the prescription info was on the boxes, we were never asked any questions about them.

We always tell the security people we are carrying epi-pens - typically have 3 and in different bags in case of loss. We carry a note from the doctor but have never had to use it.
