I was so excited today when I saw my new Allergic Living! I think the magazine is getting better and better every year. I loved Laurie Harada's 'If I knew then' article and Carolyn Blacks article 'Family Food Feud'. Like always I'm so excited that I have to thumb through the magazine quickly before I can even start to read it cover to cover.

I just re-read the Allergic Diva's take on laundry. :rofl Too funny and SO true!! It reminds me of adds for feminine hygiene products. I've never had my period and thought, 'gosh, I'm going to put on a white sundress, hop onto my pony and ride bareback down the beach'. :rofl

oh, and I have to add that I like A.L.'s and Carolyn's approach to the family article. The issues were stated (some of the personal stories had me exclaiming out loud a horrified OMG :frightened ) but on the flip side great advise was offered to help resolve the problems and tensions. :thumbsup

I think Ottawa must have some super efficient types on deck at the Post Office.
It just mailed. Don't think anyone in Toronto has rec'd yet, it it mails from Toronto and upstate NY for the U.S.

Thanks for the great feedback! I think the best thing about the 'food feuds' article is helping people realize that they're not the only ones dealing with family who may not 'get it'. Many of the folks who emailed me prefaced their stories with "I can't believe it! I thought I was the only one who has family that doesn't understand allergies." They felt better just knowing they're not alone.

My 13-year old daughter is peanut allergic and with the holiday season coming I know we're going to bake up a storm in our house to make up for all the goodies she can't eat at grandma's house. My mom is great the rest of the year but she has her "traditional" peanutty treats that she just has to serve at Christmas... I do have to give a special shout out to my sister - dear Auntie Jenny make the BEST peanut-free shortbread around and we really appreciate it! :thanksign

Carolyn

Yes, Carolyn, great story! It was great to know many of us go through similar experiences and, in fact, some of those stories were so frightening they actually made my family seem "normal."

Thank goodness no one has ever tried to secretly feed me my allergens...
