Really? Shocked to discover chocolate is not a healthy breakfast choice?

People don't hear a lot of what's said. I'm pretty sure it was frosted flakes that was described in commercials as "A tasty part of this nutritious breakfast". Um, the breakfast that was shown included orange juice, toast and eggs.

When they use words like wholesome and show parents who express concern about their children's nutrition, and these parents are recomending this product... you can allow yourself to be seduced.

I've said to DH while watching Nutella commercials that it's totally misleading. Yeah ok it has a glass of skim milk in each jar (or whatever), but how much fat and sugar? Yes, people should have to think for themselves, but advertisers should have a standard to uphold.

I hate those 'brand power' commercials that disguise themselves as providing factual info instead of trying to sell a producy.

Wasn't there a commercial even going so far as to having a mom portrayed as a teacher and knowing the importance of a having a good breakfast? I hated that commercial and if I were a good teacher, I'm sure I wouldn't have liked it even more.

Reminds me of the Baby Einstein DVD's last year. Can't remember exactly what the claim was but something along the line of watching them would help your child on the road to becoming genius or something. Then parents were all 'shocked' to learn that hours in front of the tv wasn't good for their kids and that the DVD's weren't as educational as they thought. Really!! Shocker!! Our kids can't learn everything from tv!!!!
Companies are sneaky with their claims - no argument there - BUT a little common sense must prevail from consumers.

The translation program tool didn't work for me. But I read the direct link to the piece en francais.

Yikes re this:

Quote:
Le Nutella ne contient que 13 % de noisettes et 6 % de lait, contre 60 % de sucre et de gras.

Translation: Nutella only contains 13% hazelnuts and 6% milk, compared to 60% sugar and fat.

Yeah, no wonder that boy could build the huge fancy 3-story model house in the TV ad. What that ad calls 'energy', we'd call 'completely jacked on sugar'.
