Take Action Against Reactions!

Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can be life threatening.
More than one million Canadians are at risk of anaphylaxis. Take action
this May in support of the Allergy/Asthma Information Association (AAIA)
and see how one small step can lead to big changes.

Grow... a community of parents, children and supporters who understand the
challenges of living with anaphylaxis, allergies and asthma.
Raise... critical funds for research and education while increasing
awareness and empowering the community.
Share... your story and learn from other families and peers who are
managing anaphylaxis, allergies and asthma and striving for a better
quality of life.

This May, join the thousands who are Taking Action Against Reactions at
the EpiPen® Take Action Event.

Take action today! Go online to Register, Donate or Volunteer.

So this event is the annual Triple A Walk/Run renamed? We'll be in Whitby.

Yes, the EpiPen Take Action Event has a new name (it used to be called the Triple A Run/Walk). We've got 7 cities this year! Mississauga(new!) Winnipeg (new!) Vancouver (new!) plus Ottawa, Whitby, Windsor and Kelowna. Register, Volunteer or Donate at http://aaia.raiseapp.ca.

How is the weather looking for everyone's walk? There is such a difference because of our size in Canada....hoping it is good for you all....and would like to be kept in the loop on all of this.....hopefully we will have at least one here in Alberta next year....hopefully not only 1 walkin'.
In the meantime... :huggy 8)

We had lovely weather last year! My daughter's allergist was there in shorts! (So funny to see a very serious Dr in shorts and a baseball hat)

We walked on the bike path along the Ottawa River. After our walk, we picnic'd on the grounds of the event. It was a great day!

I'm sure it will be again, this year.

When registering for the walk, under the FAQs it said:

Q. Where do the funds raised go?
A portion of the proceeds from the EpiPen® Take Action Event are donated to Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation (CAAIF). In the past five years the AAIA has provided over $230,000 to the Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation to fund research. For more information about the Allergy/Asthma Information Association and its work, visit http://aaia.ca.
Does anyone know the amount of the "portion of the proceeds"?

The "portion" part really concerns me because we donated a lot to a walk for a few years only to find out it was a very small portion that went to research. I understand that goal is also awareness but I won't ask friends and family to donate until I know the amount. My family and I will definitely go on the walk regardless.

VERY good point! I'd love to know what % 'portion' also means. I'll feel sick having asked friends/family for donations if it isn't A LOT!!!!

Just spoke with someone in the know --- it goes to research AND education.

My concern was based on a completely unrelated organization which spent the majority of funds raised on expenses. I was told this is NOT the case with this walk.

What was in the registration bag? I didn't know if we should register as a family or as individuals and it says that if you register as a group, only the main person gets a registration bag.
