Here's a response another mom posted she received from Minute maid:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting The Minute Maid Company,. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

You will be interested to know that Minute Maid Heart Wise Enhanced Juice does not contain any soy or peanut ingredients which can harm people with allergies.

Plant sterols used in Minute Maid Heart Wise Enhanced Juice are derived from highly refined vegetable oils including soybean, rapeseed/canola, sunflower, cottonseed, corn and peanut. However, these highly refined soybean and peanut oils which are two sources of plant sterols are not considered allergenic foods. Highly refined oils do not contain protein residues at levels that are hazardous to allergic consumers

We hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional comments or questions, feel free to contact us at any time.

Sincerely,

Johnetta

There is too much room for error, What if the peanut oil isn't refined properly. I don't think we need a non allergic person/company telling us what peanut proteins are safe for our peanut allergic children(adults). We avoid all peanut, I don't make an exception due to a company pushing a product and telling there is no problem.

Thank you for bringing the Minute Maid Heartwise OJ to our attention. I don't care if it is highly refined I just wouldn't take the risk. I choose other brands.
I am now noticing that other products are indicating they contain plant sterols. Today I noticed some yogurt with this on the label. I searched through all of the fine print but could not see what they use for the plant sterols. I plan to avoid until I know what is in it. Reminds me of the old "vegetable protein" label that offered no information to those of us with allergies. Glad that Minute Maid at least let us know on their label that the sterols might be from peanut.
