Ignoring allergy warnings could lead to violent, terrifying outcomes. "What's important is to recognize the severity of allergies or anaphylaxis that kids face," says Jeff Hillman, superintendent of education with the Greater Essex County District School Board. "According to the Health Unit, two to four per cent of kids face anaphylaxis. It's incumbent upon schools and parents to minimize the risk of a serious situation."

Good information and it goes beyond the peanut! I will be e-mailing this to our schools principal! :thumbsup

Daughter: asthma, allergies to egg, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, most legumes (not soy and green beans) & penicillin. Developing hayfever type allergies.
Husband: no allergies
Me: Oral Allergy Syndrome, Allergic to Birch trees

That is encouraging to see such a factually accurate article that includes multiple allergens. The onus on the community of families to keep other children safe is :thumbsup

me: allergic to crustaceans plus environmental
teenager: allergic to hazelnuts, some other foods and environmental

Great article, simple, factual, and I have the same sentiment about them mentioning more than just peanuts. :thumbsup

DD 12 yrs -no allergies
4 yr old DS - asthma/eczema Anaphylactic to Peanuts, all tree nuts, sesame , all pea/lentil legumes, gelatin.
Allergic to trees, grass,ragweed, feathers, dander, mold and dust.
Outgrew eggs, fish, shellfish
