This is an interesting article.

Kathy Szo never requested that her sons' school be made peanut and nut-free, but she did take time to speak to the school's staff about her sons' food allergies.

Now Kathy Szo is the principal of Harvey Elementary School. The school is now a peanut and tree nut-free facility. She wants to make sure they are not brought into the building because there are students with life-threatening allergies.

One thing did strike me though.

Look for the peanut-free label on snacks and lunch items; most schools won't allow packaged snacks that don't have this marking on them.
there is that 'most' again....I always wonder how true can that really be?

Anyway, I like to look a little further and since we have all this info right here... http://allergicliving.com/index.php/201 ... -policies/ At first glance, NB seems to have taken allergies more seriously (than Alberta) for quite a while as it is a "policy" rather than a "policy advisory" and has been a shared responsiblility for quite a while.
