So, I'm reading the hometown paper (I still get it, just a week late) and find this: Child Type 1 Diabetes Support Group......We are a couple of moms.....This is a completely informal meeting that is meant for people to just get together and share with others who understand what you go through every day, 24 hous a day........

Food is such a big issue when you eat.

YEAH FOR THE MOMS...AND THE DADS

Educate and share!! Does anyone know of a great website like this one to direct them to?

Michele

Oh, look what I found.

Alberta

Alberta operates under the authority of the Alberta School Act. While the Alberta Ministry of Learning does not have specific policies relating to the care and treatment of students with diabetes in school, there are policies in the area of Special Education that include students who require specialized health care services.

This is so weird.

Anyway, Susan, could you maybe change this subject to info on schools re diabetes maybe??
Hey, I'm networking!

Thanking you in advance.

There are approximately 7,000 school-aged children with Type 1 diabetes in Ontario.

While support for students with anaphylaxis — severe, life-threatening allergies — is entrenched in the school system through requirements such as nut-free classrooms, diabetic students are “at the mercy of finding compassionate teachers,” according to Conlon.
