I posted this in another conversation thread but was curious about the rest of your schools. Do any of you know numbers of kids in yours schools now with epipens? I knew the number in our school but only today found out how many were under 6 years old, totally shocked.
Last year our school had 20 kids (out of 430) with epipens. This year there are 31 kids (out of 424) with epipens and 11 of these student are in kindergarten (between the SR and JR classes) !!!!!!!!! WOW!

I posted on the other thread but I realize now I got it wrong the first time. DD's class (JK so 3 and 4 year-olds) has four kids with epi-pens out of 15 kids in the class. Crazy!

I'm not sure about the rest of the school but I can't imagine it mirrors the JK class numbers.

We have 13 kids with reported food allergies - most carrying an epi-pen - in a school of 205 children. At my daughter's birthday party last month, we had 12 kids attend the party, 3 of them (including my son) carried epi-pens.

Not school, but in the Brownie Unit I lead:
4 adults, 2 with allergies, 1 of those is also vegan
13 girls, 4 with allergies, 1 of those is also celiac

You can imagine how many EpiPens we have to keep track of... not to mention planning our camp menus! We are avoiding all top 8 allergens (mustard and sesame are ok). Crazy! Add one girl in a wheelchair and we make a very diverse group. And we all know how to have fun and be safe whilst respecting our differences.
