Now this is an interesting news item. http://ca.omg.yahoo.com/news/kate-middl ... 41377.html

Apparently, Kate Middleton refused to taste peanut paste on a royal visit, and there is speculation that she may be pregnant and avoiding exposure to peanuts.

I would NEVER EVER want anyone to have alleriges, but if fate already had it in the cards I swear the allergy world would not have some of the difficulties it does now if a royal baby or the Obama girls had allergies. (again, not that I would EVER want them to, but just saying....can you imagine the policies, accommodations, regulations that would all of a sudden be implemented without disbelieve or backlash - ok as MUCH backlash/disbelief :| ).

I agree. We wouldn't wish allergies on anyone, but if it so happened that more high profile people in the news had anaphylaxis, at least we'd have part of the public awareness and PR angle covered. And that's often half the battle for us.

I suspect a high profile individual would have a much easier time with allergy management. They are much less likely to try to have a sandwich with friends at a diner, or eggs at a breakfast place. There would be a steep learning curve for their private chefs, and I would guess that one would travel with them to supervise all food prepared when visiting elsewhere. The rest of us don't have that luxury..

But more attention to the cause would definitely help.
