The write-in campaign that mentioned in the thread on the coroner's report into the death of Megann Ayotte Lefort is coming very soon.

Read the tragic story of Megann here: http://allergicliving.com/index.php/2011/11/21/allergy-death-at-school-everything-went-wrong/?page=1

Working with me on this are Diane Dubord of the AQAA, Marie-Josée Bettez of the blog Dejouer Les Allergies, and Julie LaRochelle of Guardian Angel Foods (Les Aliments Ange-Gardien). Thanks very much to these wonderful women. And also great thanks to Travis Brown at Flight Deck Media, our programmer.

Pls. stay tuned to this thread and help us get this campaign moving forward once it is live.

Let us know what we can do when it is ready. ALL of Canada should fall under Sabrina's Law IMO.

Since education is a provincial matter.....is there anything we other provinces can do?

Is there any way that the write in campaign could be presented to all provincial gov'ts regarding the need for anaphylaxis law and not just for Quebec specific?

No, while that would be really nice and expedient, it's impossible.
Education is provincial and the provinces have different systems. One at a time is the only way.

AL's first focus will be Quebec. AQAA is now involved, we've got some momentum.

These things are time-consuming I'm doing this and my very full-time job,
so pls. excuse me if the explanation is terse. Gotta get this going!

Good luck! Watch you don't get a "policy advisory" like Alberta. :verymad

Our letter writing campaign is now live!

This initiative aims to put pressure on the Government of Quebec to adopt a law protecting students at risk of asthma and anaphylaxis in Quebec schools.
Allergic Living magazine is thrilled to have worked with AQAA, Marie-Josee Bettez of Dejouer les Allergies and Julie La Rochelle of Aliments Ange-Gardien (Guardian Angel Bakery), all extremely knowledgeable advocates. Together we were able to create an easy to use letter template:

Please join it by clicking on the link below and encourage your friends and your family to do the same!

Diane Dubord of the AQAA (Quebec Food Allergy Association) and Gervais Bélanger of Asthma, Allergies Quebec are very much in support of a law and will be promoting the campaign in the media and following up with the government.

Pls. help us with your letters and tell concerned friends, especially anyone you know in Quebec.

As we saw in the food allergy labeling and airlines campaign (yay for WestJet allergy announcements) - these letters really do make a difference.

:thanksign

December 10th is Human Rights Day. Amnesty International is having a "Write for Rights" campaign to write about human rights violations around the world. I have asked my teenager to write a letter for Quebec in addition to the other human rights letters!

I've sent in my letter - we were up to 157 letters as of 9 pm Dec 2. Thank you Gwen, and so many others for working tirelessly to get this going. You are amazing people. With this write in campaign, I hope we will prevent any further deaths in the province of Quebec due to an anaphylactic or asthmatic reaction.

Julie and others, it is our pleasure to do this to try to get a law.

Pls. tell others, folks, I think hitting 1,000 is critical. Gwen
