“He had clearly been suffering from his flea allergy for some time and it appears no-one had bothered to take him to a vet to get treatment.
Ok, if you are a cat lover....and I know some... consider yourself warned..there is a picture here of a cat with an allergy that may bother you. If you are a parent of a child who suffered from allergies you may have seen something like this already on a baby minus the fur. :(

Myself - Seasonal, cats
dd-asthma (trigger - flu) anaphylactic to eggs, severe allergies to bugspray and penicilin, pulmicort
ds-Seasonal, cats and OAS
dh-allergy cats, bugspray and guava, outgrew egg allergy

This is so sad. I would be at the emergency vet in a hurry if one of my cats ever looked like this. I am happy the cat is now getting treatment and will go home to a family who will give it the care it needs.

anaphylaxis to tree nuts, peanuts, and potato; asthmatic, dairy intolerant, vegan
other family members allergic to to dairy, egg, peanut, peach, banana, sesame, environmentals

My cat would get this behind his ears from scratching. When we first got him the pet store thought he had mites in his ears. He also drank water like crazy-poor thing, he probably had an itchy mouth!

We changed his diet to remove protein from large animals (the vet suspected this) and it cleared right up.

Animals can have allergies, too.

Daughter: asthma, allergies to egg, milk, peanuts, tree nuts, most legumes (not soy and green beans) & penicillin. Developing hayfever type allergies.
Husband: no allergies
Me: Oral Allergy Syndrome, Allergic to Birch trees
