I read today on their Facebook page, that Ange Guardian is closing their doors. I find that so sad! I love that company and DS LOVES their chocolate. Now I need to find someone else who sells safe chocolates that taste great. Any recommendations? I know Enjoy Life makes chocolate bars, but I haven't found any yet. Is there a another company/website I can use to make orders that has yummy products?

Thanks!

Odd, I'm looking at their Facebook page now and I don't see anything remotely similar to what you are saying....

Oh, how very sad! My french is not very strong, so I used google translate:

Dear Facebook friends, it is with great sadness that we announce today the closure of the operations of Guardian Angel Foods.

Until the very end we believed and we fought.

For economic reasons and several missed appointments were due to us and our momentum.

Nevertheless, we remain proud of one thing: having managed to develop tasty, safe and most importantly, bringing moments of pure happiness to thousands of people for more than 5 years.

Thank you for having loved us so long.

Julie and her guardian-angel ...

You can order from this company in Vermont.

http://www.vermontnutfree.com/

I did it before. It takes a little while because they drive over to Canada to ship to void us brokerage fees and duties, but it may take 3 to 4 weeks to get here (I live near Montreal in Quebec). The quality is good and it is well packaged.

:( So sad, indeed!

Re: Brokerage fees
They are based on individual shipments. If you organize a gigantic order with a support group, it can become manageable.

Oh that is too bad - I bought my chocolates, cocoa and chocolate chips from them!

I did look at the Divvies website and the Premium Chocolate websites. They both deliver to Canada and are DAIRY, EGG and NUT FREE. I don't know what the shipping costs will be though.

Apparently, according to their website Whole Foods in Toronto carries some Divvies products (not sure which ones though)

Any suggestions on DAIRY, EGG and NUT FREE cocoa ?

Selections brand (house brand for Metro) says their cocoa powder is pure cocoa. I haven't called though.

I feel devastated for them: Julie and her partner Jean-Sébastien are wonderful people and were so dedicated to making great, safe treats.

They were also great friends to Allergic Living magazine.

So very sad to hear this.

There's a big petition asking the Quebec government to intervene and help to save Ange-Gardien.

Pls sign and spread the word!

That's terrible news. I signed the petition you linked, Gwen. . . not sure I did it right, though, as my French is not great! I hope someone can help them out.

Anyway, I also wanted to mention that we love Vermont Nut Free chocolate, and we order from them a couple of times a year, but if your child is anaphylactic to dairy, they might not be a suitable choice. From what I remember, their dark chocolate products are made on shared equipment with dairy. My son's dairy allergy is very mild and he can have some forms of dairy, so he eats 'may contain dairy' products.

Oh, terrible news!

Safe cocoa powder: Hershey
Safe chocolate chips and chunks: Enjoy Life
Safe dark chocolate chunks: No Nuttin'
Safe chocolate bars: Divvies (we make our own)

It's becoming more and more difficult to find safe products sometimes. I hope Ange Gardien can turn around and stay open.

Hersey's Chipits Baking Chocolate 112g which is labelled as a new product is milk, egg and peanut free. I just called about it today. I asked if they had any other new milk free chocolate chips but they don't.
