We went to southern California earlier this month. Disneyland was fantastic for food choices but Universal Studios Hollywood was the complete opposite. No fresh fruit or vegetables were available to buy except cut up in similar containers to items containing nuts. We were told they couldn't guarantee they would be safe. Just about every restaurant made veggie burgers containing nuts and so all grill surfaces and frying oils were contaminated. When I called ahead I wasn't entirely sure I would be able to find food there, but I was told there would be some options. Sadly, we couldn't find any inside the park, except pure sugar candies, and City Walk was tricky as well. Hungriest day of vacation. :(

Advice: Bring lots and lots of food if you plan to visit. We had some food but not enough for the whole day - we expected to find at least something small to eat.

Sorry to hear about that!
We went to Universal in Florida. We very rarely order from establishments and when we went to Universal, we were happy that we were able to bring in our own food without having to justify or have a security person insist on seeing through the bag. Maybe not convenient to cart along but I guess we are used to it and not having the kids feel self conscious as the bags are inspected was a welcome change.
