Someone asked this on facebook a couple days ago and I was curious to see what this forum would have to say.

What food do you miss the most since you/your child was diagnosed with allergies?

I'd have to say sushi (seafood allergy) :( I used to be OBSESSED with it.

If you had asked me a year ago when my allergies were diagnosed I would have said shrimp and sushi but now I don't really miss them - it's just "how it is". Having said that, I still do miss crab but maybe that will change in a year :swing

For my daughter, we miss the flexibility of being able to go out to a bakery or out for dessert rather than actually missing hazelnuts.

Eggs. Our son was diagnosed 10 years ago, and the first two years, we felt like we missed everything. Over time, we've all adjusted to our new way of eating, so I don't feel like we miss those foods like we did in the early days. Our daughter will eat eggs at her grandparents, and when my husband and I go out, we will opt for something we can't normally eat at home - especially sushi, or eggs, or any kind of fish. If I can order a salad/meal with nuts, that's just a bonus - I don't miss nuts as much now as I did in the early days. I can truly say that we are happy with the foods we eat at home now... it definitely took time to lose the "cravings", but we've found plenty of suitable alternatives. What I miss most of all is the freedom, and not so much the foods anymore. Does that make sense?
