When my husband was attempting to avoid corn (suggestion from the allergist to see if it made any difference to his eczema) I was shocked to discover that many medications use corn as a filler. I couldn't believe it! I feel very lucky that we no longer are avoiding corn (it had absolutely no effect on hubby's eczema) and couldn't help but empathetic to those who have to avoid corn because of a serious allergy. (((Hugs))) to all of you who need to avoid corn.

Frightening reaction to corny medicine:

<<<I am new to corn allergies and just landed in the ER with an acute allergic reaction to prednisone, which was prescribed to deal with my allergies... which were exacerbated by the benadryl i took, which turned out to have corn products in its inactive ingredients. I am now trying to become familiar with the corn allergen list and finding trouble identifying any antihistamines that don't have some kind of corn product in them. Does anyone have a recommendation of which are safe for me to use????

Why can't we get help with corn-free medication???????????

Young girl with corn allergy in hospital with pneumonia:
------------------
Hello. I'm new to forums in general. My 7 yr old corn intolerant daughter is currently in the hospital with pneumonia. I'm writing this in her room as she is sleeping. She is currently on azythromicin IV mixed with saline. Had an earlier mistake made in ER and they gave her Rocephin IV in dextrose after I asked repeatedly for saline only. My daughter has been healthy and not needed meds in many years so im new to the medication issue. I'm so overwhelmed. I think she is ok on the saline IV meds for now. I have no idea what to give her to deal with a high fever--so far it's low grade. I gave her acetamenophin suppositories a few days ago and she hallucinated. Nearest compounding pharmacy is an hour away. Help! Even corn-lite medication ideas would be better than the regular. Would love input. My girl is also gluten intolerant.
