Anyone have any luck finding peanut free tree nuts in Canada? Specifically cashews?
All of the sites I have found are US based and don't ship to Canada. Thanks! :)

I haven't really looked, but my allergist recommends buying nuts in the shell, washing the outside in a mild soap solution and shelling yourself. Might work til you find something?

I don't buy them often, but I know there are a few California companies that only package either pistachios or almonds - no peanuts on their premises. Have found in Sobey's.

The names are escaping me, does anyone else remember?

When I was grocery shopping yesterday, I discovered Royal Nuts. I don't know if they sell cashews (I bought almonds), but they are a Canadian operation. I found the nuts at a "Your Independent" grocer - part of the Loblaw chain. The nuts weren't in the bulk food section but in the aisle with snack foods.

Here is their web address... http://www.royalnuts.ca/index.html

Good luck!

"Wonderful" has almonds and pistachios which they say are each made in their own facilities. They have pistachios in the shell - multiple flavours - plus shelled pistachios. They have whole almonds as well as sliced almonds (we love the salt&pepper and honey roasted for salads).

I recommend checking Loblaws - usually I call them to ask about products but once I got a tep's email I have sent them a list with 15 different products asking about our allergens and they respond with details on whether the allergens are in the product, on the line or in the facility.

I have also called Sobeys but find they have not always had the same info.
