Hi All,

Our son passed his oral egg challenge at Sick Kids Hospital this week! They had him eat one whole egg over the course of a few hours, giving a bit more every 15 minutes. He gagged, threw up and generally gave a hard time about it but did eat it and no rash, no reaction, etc. My husband loves eggs but I have never cared for them so he probably takes after me. So now I can bake with eggs again and generally have one less allergy to worry about. In 2 years they will do blood test on peanut allergy but only 20% or so outgrow that one so not to be too hopeful. It was a long day there but a great outcome.

activemom, did the vomiting occur before eating the egg--i.e. was he really stressed about it? or did the vomiting occur after? i'm just asking because vomiting and gagging are among my reactions---I'm sure the drs at sick kids would have considered this, but just in case i thought i'd better mention it.

I'm happy to hear about your sons' challenge went well!
I can't imagine the stress that a challenge brings on, I get stressed just thinking about it.
What a brave boy!
I hope this opens up his world to many 'egg'-citing culinary adventures! (sorry-I just had to 'crack' that one!) :)
