Judging by the description for this group, about the only things which fit into it are lactose intolerance and fat intolerance. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder (so it definitely fits the immune category) and some other food intolerances don't have digestive implications.

I react to sodium benzoate with severe myofascial pain. Aspartame gives me migraines. Dairy makes my husband's acne worse. None of these are IgE mediated allergies, but they're certainly intolerances.

Just a suggestion--it might help to clarify things. :)

ygg - You're quite right (as usual, oh learned one!)

Maybe Audra can amend to lose "digestive system" from the description.

This area is meant to be for the many other intolerances out there. We just wanted to distinguish them from the IgE-related allergies so we weren't mixing apples and oranges. Feel free to weigh in with non-digestive stuff as well. Thanks for the nudge.. /g

Sort of . . . though *any* reaction one has to something ingested/touch is likely an immune reaction of some sort. There are different antibodies, IgE are the ones associated with traditional allergic reactions, but some folks end up with elevated levels of IgG, IgA, etc.

I think it's probably clear enough as it is. Thanks, Audra.
