WASHINGTON - Some allergy sufferers are swearing by a secret weapon they say keeps them from suffering -- honey.

They say the trick is eating honey that comes from a 50-mile radius of your home. A tablespoon or two a day should do it, they say.

Interesting!

Of course, some of us become substantially sicker after immunotherapy. My allergists now tell me that they don't always recommend immunotherapy or local honey for highly atopic individuals.

I had immunotherapy (allergy shots) and my allergies are now much worse. While I *do* buy local honey, I try to buy it from local orchards/wineries. And I don't eat it daily.
