Currently, discussions about celiac fit into the "food intolerances" section (that does not involve the immune system). But celiac disease is by definition an autoimmune disease.

Actually, I bet that a lot of food "intolerances" might involve the immune system . . i.e. IgG or something else that isn't easily tested for and poorly understood. Some things clearly don't involve the immune system like lactose intolerance, but I think in general non-IgE mediated reactions (including celiac disease--although a lot of research has been done--I just don't think that the average MD is up on it) aren't all that well understood.

So I'd make an argument for changing the forum title.

Good point and suggestion. Originally, we'd been thinking less about celiac there and more about other intolerances. But since Celiac is being discussed there and does seem a logical to draw attention to, we'll change the heading to Food Intolerances and Celiac Disease.

thanks, Gwen

Done. Are you guys okay with the little definition that goes below the forum title?

K, I'm inclined to just lose the tag line. Many people won't know IgE-mediated.

thanks both. /G

Just an update:

1. We've changed the Wheat Allergy forum to Celiac disease and wheat allergy.
2. We've changed the Food intolerances and Celiac disease forum back to Food intolerances.

K.
